Following the 1945 Flanagan, Bell and Hall auctions, the Wharton catalogue capped the firm’s most successful year, with proceeds from the four sales totaling $366,968.50. At the end of the prices realized list, the Stacks proclaim: “We believe that never in the history of American Numismatic records have there been sales of such magnitude conducted by any one dealer in the United States in so short a time.”
